The Indian mobile industry is expected to continue double-digit
growth throughout 2012 with mobile penetration increasing to 72.5
percent within the year according to a report by Gartner, Inc. 3G
and 4G networks have increasingly stringent synchronization
requirements as backhaul networks transition from TDM to packet
based infrastructure. The evolution of this infrastructure has
placed an increased importance on timing and synchronization
technology, as it plays a pivotal role in the success of
communications networks and directly impacts the overall quality of
service (QoS) of voice, video and data services.
Space and defense infrastructure spending is also expected to
grow significantly over the next decade according to research
published by Deloitte. Symmetricom's hydrogen, cesium and rubidium
time standards, quartz oscillators, and the Quantum™ Chip Scale
Atomic Clock (CSAC) have supported more military communications,
satellite ground stations, metrology laboratories and test and
measurement applications than any other precision frequency
references in the world.
"Symmetricom has a significant customer base in the Indian
sub-continent," said Dave Cote,
president and chief executive officer at Symmetricom. "The demand
for precise timing and synchronization across multiple market
segments in India is expected to
grow substantially in the coming years and Symmetricom is well
positioned to help its customers in this region benefit from the
world's leading solutions in this domain, with local expertise and
support."
Symmetricom's synchronization services assist customers with the
planning, deployment and maintenance of synchronization
infrastructure. Services are designed to help lower costs,
streamline processes, ensure quality, and deliver the highest level
of performance from a synchronization network.
Localized service solutions are available for the India market that cover a wide range of
applications including:
- Synchronization systems for communications networks, based on
both traditional TDM distribution and new packet timing
synchronization
- Time and frequency solutions for aerospace and defense
applications
- High precision frequency standards, including Cesium atomic
clocks, hydrogen masers, and time-scale systems which ensemble
multiple sources to produce a common timing standard
- Time and frequency sources and distribution systems for public
utilities and energy management

enterprise networks and particularly important for financial
institutions
