SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Symmetricom®, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYMM), a worldwide leader in
precision time and frequencytechnologies, announced today that
chief scientist, Dr. Robert Lutwak
has been awarded the annual GNSS leadership product award in
recognition for his leadership and significant contribution in the
achievement of the Quantum™ SA.45s Chip Scale Atomic Clock
(CSAC). Dr. Lutwak was chosen as the recipient of this
prestigious award as a result of his role to overcome the intrinsic
physical barriers to affordable chip scale atomic clocks, enabling
precision time and time transfer in mobile GNSS and communications
systems. The 2012 GNSS Leadership Awardsrecognizes four
individuals for significant recent achievement in the categories of
Satellites, Signals, Services, and Products.

Dr. Lutwak joined Symmetricom in 1998 and has pioneered the
effort to incorporate laser technology and modern atomic physics
into fieldable high-performance atomic clocks, particularly
high-performance cesium beam frequency standards and low-power
cesium and rubidium gas cell oscillators.
Symmetricom's SA.45s Chip Scale Atomic Clock (CSAC) has received
high industry accolades for its technology breakthroughs in
low-power consumption, accuracy, size, and weight. This powerful
combination makes the CSAC ideal for small form-factor applications
that require precise synchronization and time keeping such as
geophysical sensors and secure communications radios. The SA.45s
CSAC also provides time accuracy two orders of magnitude better
than higher-power quartz-based solutions, such as Oven-Controlled
Crystal Oscillators (OCXOs) and Temperature Compensated Crystal
Oscillators (TCXOs). The CSAC product is available in standard and
mil-spec temperature-range configurations, and multiple frequency
options.
