Sabre Airline Solutions, the leading provider of software and services to the airline industry from planning to execution, announced today that Air China, the largest commercial airline in China, signed an agreement for the company to provide marketing and analytical technology to analyze booking information to support the carrier's marketing, sales, strategic network and planning decisions. This agreement is the first contract in China for market information data tapes (MIDT) tools, which analyze global distribution system (GDS) bookings. Air China will process its MIDT data through the Sabre WiseVision Data Services to turn large volumes of complex booking transactions from GDSs into mission-critical competitor information that can be used to make timely and fact-based operational decisions. "With access to processed global MIDT data through the Data Services, Air China will have a clear view of total market demand and true market share in key international markets," said Mr. Qui Feng, deputy general manager, Network and Revenue Management Department, Air China. "This information is critical to support strategic decisions on our international routes, and also enables calibration and maintenance of network planning tools such as the Sabre AirFlite Profit Manager," he said. In the world's fastest growing marketplace, the move by Air China to employ the latest in business intelligence, paves way for other emerging airlines in the region to adopt the same standard of competitive best practice. "There has never been a better time than now to build accurate models and forecasts of airline passenger demand in this critical Chinese market," said Andrew Powell, vice-president sales, Sabre Airlines Solutions, APAC. "In today's competitive environment, an airline must use every tool possible to gain a marketing or operational advantage. We are pleased to be a trusted partner of Air China as it rapidly expands its footprint across the global marketplace." As a preferred long-term partner of Sabre Airline Solutions, Air China has already deployed the Sabre AirFlite Planning and Scheduling Suite to optimise its flight scheduling operations. Sabre Airline Solutions is the Asia/Pacific market leader in aviation technology. The company has experienced rapid growth in China and is working with the major airlines including Air China, China Eastern and China Southern.
