Sabre Airline Solutions, the leading provider of software and
services to the airline industry from planning to execution, today
announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has chosen
the Sabre Streamline Resource Management Suite to automate the
scheduling of U.S. air traffic controllers. The contract award has
an initial value of just under $200,000 and a potential total award
value of $20 million over the term of the agreement. The contract
is slated to begin with a pilot demonstration program in Kansas
City this summer. The Sabre Streamline Resource Management Suite
enables the FAA to create air traffic controller shift schedules
and rosters and improve administrative staff utilization. There are
approximately 15,000 air traffic controllers across the U.S. who
will be scheduled using the Streamline suite upon full
implementation. The Sabre Streamline Resource Management Suite will
also enable the FAA to meet the stated mission of the FAA's 10-Year
Strategy for the Air Traffic Controller Workforce -- "meeting the
needs of the system, staffing the right number of controllers in
the right place at the right time." "We are committed to helping
the FAA succeed in its mission with our cutting edge scheduling
technology," said Bruce Charendoff, senior vice president for
government and external affairs, Sabre Holdings. "We are very
pleased that the FAA has chosen the Sabre Streamline suite." The
contract builds on previous agreements between the U.S. government
and Sabre Airline Solutions. Since 2002, the Transportation
Security Administration has been using the Streamline suite to
assist in the scheduling of passenger and baggage screening
operations at the nation's airports. Additionally, the Federal Air
Marshal Service uses the Sabre AirCrews Crew Management suite and
Sabre Qik product to plan and manage its operational resources.
"This award marks another milestone in the growing government sales
presence of Sabre Holdings," said Charendoff. "Sabre is developing
solutions that help government agencies improve efficiency and save
taxpayer dollars." About Sabre Airline Solutions Sabre Airline
