THAI Chooses Sabre Airline Solutions for Major Crew Management System THAI Becomes Eighth Asia Pacific-Based Carrier to Implement Proven Crew Management Solution; Contract Package Includes Support Services Tailored To Ensure Project Success SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Sabre Airline Solutions today signed a multi-million dollar agreement with Thai Airways International Public Company Limited for Sabre AirCrews crew management system, an integrated and comprehensive solution which supports the end-to-end crew management needs of an airline. The system addresses all phases of crew management operations from long-term crew resource planning through day-of-operations crew tracking, ensuring efficient deployment of crew at minimum cost while maintaining flight reliability and schedule integrity. The contract with THAI brings to 67 the number of Sabre Airline Solutions agreements to be signed this year with Asia Pacific-based carriers, highlighting the company's commitment to the region and its ability to provide solutions with a proven return on investment to carriers in Asia-Pacific. According to Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, president of Thai Airways International, the new system will help the airline to create a competitive advantage through more cost effective crew resource utilization and management. "Our aim is to implement a world-class crew management solution, which is able to support decision-making capabilities based on a number of scenarios," said Mr. Abhiradee. "With Sabre AirCrews, THAI will be able to respond quickly to a variety of situations with minimal impact to our customers and simultaneously benefit the crew through better pairing and supporting work preferences." Steve Clampett, president of Airline Product and Services for Sabre Airline Solutions, explained that the AirCrews system would help THAI manage the complexity involved in air crew operations and substantially lower crew related costs. "Managing air crews is one of the most complex operations for airlines today," Clampett said. "Airlines need information to plan the day-of- operations, manage large volume of crew data, generate pairings, perform crew rostering analyses, communicate data between systems and generate reports, alerts and notifications. "We have found that with the AirCrews system operational costs have been reduced from between 3 and 7 percent, while the incidence of flight delays and cancellations due to crew scheduling issues have also been reduced. These proven results mean good news for both the airline and the airline's customers," continued Clampett. THAI will immediately benefit from the automation of the AirCrews system to react quickly to situations such as competitor activity and changes in crew rosters and flight cancellations. As part of the agreement with THAI, Sabre Airline Solutions developed a comprehensive support package, which includes user training and on-site support, delivery support, maintenance support and focus group participation to ensure THAI's objectives are achieved. Other carriers in the region that have selected the AirCrews system to help reduce crew costs and support better decision making include Singapore Airlines, Korean Airlines, Virgin Blue, Air New Zealand, China Southern Airlines, China Airlines and Cathay Pacific. THAI has been a Sabre Airline Solutions customer since 1995 and currently utilizes various suites of products for flight operations, planning and scheduling and business processing management, including Sabre AirFlite Schedule Manager (previously known as PC AirFlite), Sabre AirOps Dispatch Manager (previously known as AirPath) and Sabre Qik Business Processing Solution.
