FRANCISCO, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CMP Media's
Electronics Group today announced two important editorial
appointments -- Bill Schweber as EE Times' analog editor and Clive
Maxfield as site editor of Programmable Logic DesignLine
(http://www.pldesignline.com/). The two come from EDN Magazine,
where Schweber was most recently executive editor, responsible for
editorial content, strategy and direction, and Maxfield an
award-winning columnist. These hires illustrate CMP Media
Electronics Group's continued success with and investment in its
Heads-Down content offerings, to deliver the content that
electronics engineers need to do their job every day. Combined, the
pair brings more than 50 years of electronic engineering industry
and editorial expertise to CMP Media, the parent company of the
premier technology and business brands serving the information
needs of the creators of technology worldwide. In addition to
providing editorial insight into analog and mixed-signal
technology, Schweber is the site editor of PlanetAnalog.com, editor
of EE Times' Planet Analog publication and chairman of the analog
track at the Embedded Systems Conferences. Maxfield will provide
editorial content and industry expertise to Programmable Logic
DesignLine, an online resource dedicated to helping engineers
accelerate the development of programmable logic technology and
equipment. The site achieves that by delivering a broad array of
information ranging from technical insights into structured ASIC
approaches to articles on new industry standards and their
potential repercussions. "Bill and Clive are among the best and the
brightest editors in the business," said Richard Wallace, CMP Media
Electronics Group's editorial director. "Their addition to EE Times
will greatly strengthen our editorial depth across the board and
specifically in the important subject areas of analog and
programmable logic. With them on board, we're even better prepared
to provide our audience with the most comprehensive resources
available anywhere to assist engineers in their daily tasks."
Schweber has spent the last 11 years at Reed Business' EDN
Magazine, first as the analog beat editor, and then as executive
editor with overall responsibility for the publication's content
and direction. Prior to that, he spent 14 years in applications
engineering, product marketing and marketing communications roles
at Analog Devices, Inc. and Instron Corp. Schweber has written
hundreds of opinion pieces, some of which have won industry awards,
as well as in-depth design and application articles, and is the
author of three engineering textbooks. He holds bachelor's and
master's degrees in electrical engineering. "I'm very excited to be
joining EE Times and contributing to its growing content core,"
said Schweber. "EE Times continues to enhance its offerings and
establish new resources for the EE community. This elite group of
electronics- technology resources provides engineers with the
information they need to succeed, by offering them updates and
insight on news, trends, product reviews and practical how-to
information." Maxfield also comes from EDN Magazine, where he was a
regular columnist. He has spent over a quarter of a century focused
on the electronics, computing and EDA arenas. Throughout his
career, after starting at International Computers Limited (ICL),
he's created CPUs for mainframe computers; designed ASICs and
circuit boards; written numerous test programs for functional and
in-circuit testers; and, in digital logic simulation, created
models of everything from ASIC cell libraries to microprocessors.
He's also authored and co-authored a number of books. About CMP
