Explanation of Responses:
( 1)  1/12th of the shares underlying such option shall vest in equal monthly installments over a one year period.
( 2)  100% of the Restricted Stock Units shall vest on the earlier of the date of the first annual meeting of the stockholders to be held in 2013 and the first anniversary of the Date of Grant, contingent upon continuous service. The reporting person elected to defer settlement of his grant of restricted stock units until the termination of his service to the Volcano Corporation Board of Directors.
