CHICAGO, Aug. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cars.com, the
premier online resource for buying and selling new and used cars
and trucks, has announced that the 2015 GMC 3500 HD Duramax is the
winner of the site's one-ton heavy-duty pickup truck challenge. The
challenge put the top three one-ton pickup trucks against each
other in a series of tests to determine the overall best. The three
trucks tested in the challenge were the 2015 Ford F-350 Power
Stroke, 2015 GMC 3500 HD Duramax, and the 2014 Ram HD 3500
Cummins.
"The GMC was the least expensive truck of the bunch, but managed
to win us over with its exceptionally comfortable ride over many
not-so-comfortable road conditions," said Mark Williams, truck editor for Cars.com. "Our
judges hugely appreciated the all-new interior, multimedia system
and 8-inch navigation screen. In the end, the GMC was the best
all-around player of its competitors."
The trucks were tested for two weeks over thousands of miles and
in a variety of weather and terrain conditions. Scores were drawn
from 19 data-driven tests of each truck's capabilities, and judges
added their votes in six categories: engine performance, seating
comfort and ergonomics, technology and entertainment, ride quality,
visibility and value.
"In the three years since our last one-ton pickup truck
challenge, the truck world has changed dramatically," said
Williams. "Not only has the segment become more fuel efficient, but
the heavy-hauler competitors have significantly raised their game
in terms of features, comfort and overall driving and towing
ability."
