The new RS Series switches are available with Fast Ethernet ports, four (4) of which support Power over Ethernet (PoE). The functions that can be managed by means of SNMP v1, v2 and v3, or TELNET, include redundancy mechanisms such as Rapid Spanning Tree and HIPER-Ring, access control according to IEEE 802.1x, filtering options per port, and Flow Control with Prioritization. Fan-less cooling and an optional redundant voltage supply provide high operational safety. Upon request, the circuit boards are available with a conformal coating for protection against condensation. The status of the switches can be locally retrieved through signaling contacts, with detailed information accessible for display using a standard web browser. Another central management function is offered by the integrated SNMP interface, e.g., permitting the use of network management software.
