BT Group PLC (BT.A.LN) said Thursday that it has appointed
Philip Jansen as its new chief executive, and that he will take
over from Gavin Patterson in February.
The U.K. telecommunications company said Mr. Jansen will join
the company and the board on Jan. 1 and will take over from Mr.
Patterson from Feb. 1 after a handover period.
Mr. Jansen joins BT from Worldpay Inc. (WP), where he has been a
co-chief executive with Charles Drucker since 2013, the company
said.
BT said Mr. Jansen will receive a salary of 1.1 million pounds
($1.4 million) a year, fixed for five years. He will receive a cash
allowance in lieu of pension of 15% salary and other benefits in
line with the company's remuneration policy.
He will also be entitled to receive an annual bonus of up to
240% of salary subject to performance, BT said. A third of the
bonus will be deferred into BT shares for a further three
years.
