DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
A compressor at ExxonMobil Corp.'s (XOM) Baton Rouge, La.,
refinery tripped on Wednesday, according to a filing made public
Thursday.
WRB Refining LLC (COP, CVE) Wednesday said freezing cold
temperatures caused a process upset at its oil refinery in Borger,
Texas, which resulted in emissions at several flare stacks at the
plant, according to a filing to Texas state environmental
regulators. The emissions associated with the event could continue
through Thursday, a filing to environmental regulators said.
BP PLC (BP) said Wednesday that planned flaring would begin on
Feb. 15 and end on Feb. 18 at its Carson, Calif., refinery. The
event is not related to equipment breakdown. No further details
were provided in a filing to Calif. state environmental
regulators.
Citgo Corp. Monday shut FCCU No. 1 at its Corpus Christi, Texas,
refinery to repair an expansion joint; the restart estimate was not
provided in a filing to environmental regulators made available on
Wednesday.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said Wednesday that the FCCU forced to
shutdown on Monday at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery because of a
loss of steam, was restarted on Tuesday and was increasing to
normal rates.
Chevron Corp. (CVX) Tuesday notified California environmental
regulators of a planned flaring event that will begin on Wednesday
and is expected to end on Friday. The flaring is not related to
equipment breakdown, the filing to the regulators said.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) Tuesday said a minor leak Monday at an
unspecified process unit at its oil refinery in Baton Rouge, La.,
had been contained to the unit and stopped with no injuries or
external impact. The company expects to meet all customer needs.
Monday's leak and unit shutdown is not related to turnaround
maintenance that began at the Baton Rouge refinery on Feb. 5.
Alon USA (ALJ) said Tuesday that it's Big Spring, Texas,
refinery is expected to resume maximum processing rates by the end
of the day following cut backs last week when sulfur recovery units
tripped off-line.

refinery at El Paso, Texas, for up to five days because of cold
weather-related damage and regional electrical outages, the company
said on Monday.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) Monday said planned turnaround
maintenance began Saturday at its oil refinery in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana. The work at an unspecified unit, or units, is expected
to last for several weeks.
Valero Energy Corp.'s McKee oil refinery in Sunray, Texas,
returned to normal operating rates over the weekend, company
spokesman Bill Day said Monday. Cold weather-related issues and
problems with the supply of electricity to the 171,000 barrel-a-day
refinery forced the company to reduce rates on Feb. 3.
Valero Energy Corp.'s oil refinery on Aruba was shut Friday when
the collapse of a 20,300-barrel freshwater storage tank resulted in
damage to several pipes carrying petroleum products, company
spokesman Bill Day said on Monday. The refinery remains shut while
repairs are being completed; restart timing not yet known, but the
outage isn't expected to be lengthy.
Holly Corporation (HOC) Friday said inclement weather has
delayed its Navajo Refinery in Artesia, New Mexico from returning
to planned operating levels by about a week. The Navajo Refinery
experienced a plant-wide power failure late in the day on January
26 due to an interruption in power supply from its local utility.
The plant as been operating at approximately 40,000 barrels a day,
down from its boiler plate capacity of 100,000 barrels a day, while
plant personnel continue to work to restart certain downstream
processing units.
