Ford Motor Co. plans to add a third crew to its Kansas City, Mo., assembly plant this month as it ramps up production across North America.

The auto maker said Monday the new crew in Kansas City will help it increase production of the best-selling Transit and E-Transit vans.

Ford said it is also driving up production at manufacturing plants across the continent to meet strong consumer demand for several vehicle models, including the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, Bronco Sport and Maverick.

The update comes in tandem with Ford's report that sales were up more than 10% in the first quarter.
