Mexico's engineers and technologists are at the heart of a burgeoning Mexican tech industry. To help foster their development, Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) (NYSE:FSL.B) will sponsor MexEEdev, Mexico Electronics & Embedded Developers Forum, the premier developer's conference slated for October in Guadalajara. "Mexico is shedding its international image as a source of solely low-cost manufacturing. What we're seeing is very exciting," said Francisco Ruiz, co-founder and general director of the conference. "The capability to design embedded chips, develop the hardware and software for the applications, and then actually manufacture prototypes or finished product at one of the local EMS facilities for global or domestic customers is very compelling." The term near-sourcing has been coined to describe this tight development cycle that is seen as a critical component in accelerating designs into the converging consumer and wireless networking markets. This newfound reputation as a global resource of engineering services compelled regional leaders to create opportunities to foster development of Mexico's tech industry. MexEEdev was created to provide a forum for technologists, industry leaders and academicians to address the demand for electronics design services in Mexico. The forum will provide workshops and seminar sessions that are tailored to meet the needs of the electronic engineer and software developer in key technologies and markets that are forming the nucleus of regional design. "The need for skilled engineers who can keep pace with the advances in technology is critical for succeeding in today's marketplace," said German Hernandez, Freescale country manager. "In Mexico, we have found a globally competitive talent pool at all steps of the development cycle, which will help keep Freescale at the forefront of IC design." MexEEdev will take place Oct. 12 - 14 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. To learn more, visit http://www.mexeedev.com. About Freescale Semiconductor Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.
