Explanation of Responses:
( 1)  Beneficially owned shares include (i) 34,566 shares of common stock of Grubb & Ellis Company (the "Company"), (ii) 3,333 restricted shares of the Company's common stock that were granted to Mr. Streiff on March 12, 2008 pursuant to the Company's 2006 Omnibus Equity Plan and which will vest on the third anniversary of the grant date and (iii) 66,666 restricted shares of the Company's common stock that were granted to Mr. Streiff on June 3, 2009 pursuant to the Company's 2006 Omnibus Equity Plan and which will vest in equal 1/2 portions on each of the second and third anniversaries of the grant date.
( 2)  The option became fully exercisable as of January 23, 2007.
