Dow Jones News
1442 GMT - National Grid PLC is among the most mentioned topics
across news items over the past 12 hours, according to Factiva
data, after the company said it will pay customers to use less
power on Monday evening. The U.K. electricity-transmission network
operator tweeted on Sunday that it was activating a live 'demand
flexibility service' between 1700 GMT and 1800 GMT on Monday. "Our
forecasts show electricity supply margins are expected to be
tighter than normal on Monday evening. We have instructed
coal-fired power units to be available to increase electricity
supplies should it be needed tomorrow evening," National Grid said.
However, the electricity system operator stressed this doesn't mean
supplies are at risk and said people shouldn't be worried. "These
are precautionary measures to maintain the buffer of spare capacity
we need," it said. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva.
