Katy Resident and H.F.D. Firefighter Wins 'Shell V-Power First
Pitch Sweepstakes' Wins Honor of Throwing Ceremonial First Pitch at
Astros Game Tonight and One- Year Supply of Shell V-Power Gasoline
HOUSTON, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Katy resident and Houston Fire
Department firefighter, Joe Brace, will charge out to the pitcher's
mound tonight at the Houston Astros game accompanied by his
four-year-old son A.J. Lucky winner of the "Shell V-Power First
Pitch Sweepstakes," Brace will have the honor of throwing out the
ceremonial first pitch at the game. Brace, who entered the
sweepstakes at the Shell V-Power exhibit during the John Hancock
All-Star Fan Fest last week, also won four tickets to tonight's
Astros game and a one-year supply of Shell V-Power premium grade
gasoline. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990716/SHELL
) "I stopped by the Shell exhibit to have my picture taken with the
Shell Formula One Ferrari race car, and I decided to enter the
sweepstakes. I was shocked when Shell called to tell me I won Shell
V-Power gasoline for a year and the chance to throw out the
ceremonial first pitch at tonight's game," replied Brace. "I've
never won anything in my life and I'm thrilled that the Astros have
agreed to let my son join me on the pitcher's mound -- we love
baseball and I know he'll get a kick out of it." Brace will throw
the ceremonial first pitch tonight at 6:55 p.m. when the Houston
Astros take on the San Diego Padres during Shell V-Power night at
Minute Maid Park. Shell hosted the sweepstakes and Shell V-Power
night to introduce Houstonians to its new and most advanced fuel
ever, Shell V-Power. The new gasoline replaces Shell's current
premium grade gasoline, and it actively cleans your engine as you
drive, specifically intake valves and fuel injectors. While Brace
was the first winner, Astros' fans at tonight's game will also
become part of the celebration and are eligible to win a one-year
supply of Shell V-Power. The prize will be given away to one
randomly selected fan in attendance at tonight's game.
Additionally, as the first 5000 fans enter Minute Maid Park they
will be given two $2-off coupons for Shell V-Power. Brace is a
firefighter and EMT with the Houston Fire Department. He graduated
from the academy in June and now works at Station 3 River Oaks.
