Ocean Power Technologies expands reach with new U.S. PowerBuoy deal and WAM-V Sale to Latin America
Ocean Power Technologies CEO Philipp Stratmann joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the company has secured a new contract for the immediate delivery of a PowerBuoy® in the United States, CEO Philipp Stratmann announced in an interview with Proactive. The buoy, set for deployment along the East Coast, will enhance monitoring and data collection capabilities with future surface and subsea sensor integration. Due to confidentiality agreements, further contract details remain undisclosed.
In addition to this milestone, OPT has also announced the sale of a Wave Adaptive Modular Vessel to a new customer in Latin America. This marks a significant expansion into the onshore mining industry, showcasing the adaptability of OPT’s autonomous surface vessel (ASV) technology beyond its traditional markets.
The undisclosed customer will utilize the WAM-V for bathymetry surveys, a critical function for mapping underwater topography in mining operations. This deployment highlights the vessel’s versatility and ability to serve both offshore and onshore industries.
