Chicago gasoline and ULSD pricing differentials strengthened on
Jan. 26 amid talk of a 50% crude oil throughput rate cut at the
306,000-b/d Wood River Refinery, a JV owned by ConocoPhillips (COP)
and Cenovus Energy (CVE) in Roxana, Ill. The refinery reported
flaring on Jan. 22 according to a government filing made public
Monday. No other details were provided.
Hess Corp. (HES) on Jan. 25 said it may take its Port Reading,
N.J., fluid catalytic cracking facility off-line for three weeks of
turnaround maintenance. The decision to undergo repairs will be
made after a technical analysis. The unit is operating, but
catalyst loss has been somewhat higher than normal, a spokeswoman
for the company said. The 70,000-barrel-a-day facility recently
reported several flaring events to the National Response
Center.
Sinclair Oil Corp. said on Jan. 25 it has completed its
long-term project to expand, enhance and relieve a bottleneck at
its refinery in Sinclair, Wyoming.

Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said Jan. 23 that it had restarted units
at its 240,000 barrel-a-day refinery near Joliet, Ill., after a
Jan. 20 equipment shutdown. Exxon did not say which units were
effected or whether the upset impacted supply.
