was the first RDBMS ported to the Linux OS, and has garnered
several prestigious awards, including the LinuxWorld magazine
Reader's Choice Award for "Best Linux Database." "Logicalis is very
excited about the relationship that Sybase and IBM have developed
for potential Linux customers," said Brandon Harris, director, IBM
solutions, Logicalis. "The Linux marketplace, while open, is
looking for commitment from the traditional vendors. The

with a stable, robust, and proven solution from two long standing
IT providers in the marketplace. This further enhances and supports
the openness of Linux and provides credibility from two well known

Services, and IBM Global Services, offers a Linux Migration Service
to provide predictability and value to client's migrating to Linux.
The service, which is delivered by expert migration resources,
includes detailed processes for each stage of the migration, as
well as an acceleration toolkit to help speed through the
migration. The service includes database and application migration
from UNIX or Microsoft Windows NT to Sybase ASE on Linux. In

the environment when it goes into production. Sybase managed
services continue the high value, low TCO provided in the solution.
Sybase and IBM also are providing comprehensive customer support
options for Sybase ASE for Linux on OpenPower with 24 x 7 rapid

services that other products lack," said Dr. Raj Nathan, senior
vice president, Information Technology Solutions Group, Sybase. "By
porting Sybase's ASE database for Linux to IBM's OpenPower servers
and complementing it mission-critical support and services, we
offer our customers the perfect combination of superior performance
and security for the most demanding of applications." "Bringing
Sybase support to the OpenPower product line will help provide our
shared clients with an affordable, secure, high-performance
platform on which to build mission-critical, enterprise
applications," stated Brian Connors, vice president of Linux on
POWER, IBM. "Sybase functionality will also enhance the OpenPower
value proposition to clients within the financial services sector
-- a key area of growth for OpenPower systems." Sybase and IBM have

database platform especially for Wall Street related solutions,"
said Evan Bauer, principal analyst with the Robert Francis Group.
"The availability of Sybase ASE for IBM's OpenPower platform as
well as Sybase and IBM support and services makes this a viable
option for IT organizations which are basing their infrastructure
decisions on new price/performance value points supported by a
high-quality open platform." "As the Microsoft NT server approaches
lifecycle completion, Sybase and IBM are actively targeting
customers who desire to move from Microsoft, by offering a logical
upgrade path to Linux," said David Jacobson, senior director of
marketing, Information Technology Solutions Group, Sybase. "By
migrating from Microsoft to ASE for Linux on IBM OpenPower,
