Four New Beta Releases Address Market Need for Rapid Application Development and Model-Driven Development Tools LAS VEGAS, SYBASE TECHWAVE 2005 CONFERENCE, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today announced beta availability for several developer products within its popular modeling and application development product line. The four new releases -- Sybase(R) PowerBuilder(R) 10.5, PowerDesigner(R) 12, PocketBuilder(TM) 2.0.3 and DataWindow .NET 2.0 -- will enable customers to successfully initiate rapid design, development and deployment for the types of applications needed to achieve an application edge over competitors. "Sybase has always been an innovator of tools for application design, development, and deployment, and these tools are vital to building an Unwired Enterprise, " said Dr. Raj Nathan, senior vice president and general manager, Information Technology Solutions Group, Sybase, Inc. "Today's announcement further solidifies our leadership in development tools and demonstrates our commitment to the delivery of next-generation solutions for total application integration from client/server to distributed applications and mobile applications." The new releases of DataWindow .NET and PowerBuilder represent another step in Sybase's product strategy to move toward a tighter integration with .NET and to continue to enhance the core functionality and add new technology to PowerBuilder. This approach will provide developers with a quick and easy way to leverage existing skills and IT investments. Specifically, DataWindow.NET's Active Data Objects (ADO) support will allow developers to leverage the superior presentation capabilities of the DataWindow against .NET datasets and datatables. It will also offer additional features for the Web DataWindow, ADO .NET 2.0 support, as well as support for Visual Studio 2005. PowerBuilder 10.5 will enable developers to use build applications with updated user interface features, and will include PowerScript(R) language enhancements and enhancements to PowerBuilder Native Interface (PBNI) extensions. It will also have updated RDBMS support for Oracle(R) and Adaptive Server(R) Enterprise 15 databases. Similarly, with the latest version of Sybase PocketBuilder, Sybase continues to show its support of Windows Mobile(TM) 5.0 by embracing Magento -- the new Windows Mobile 5.0 software platform. As a result, corporate PocketBuilder customers will benefit from market-leading mobile technology that delivers bottom-line business benefits. In addition to supporting Magento, the new release will also offer improved skin rotation. The latest version of Sybase PowerDesigner, version 12, brings new innovations in all modeling paradigms, including a new data-mapping editor, support for new RDBMS techniques, UML 2.0 support, Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) support, a new report writer and usability enhancements. PowerDesigner 12 also enhances ERwin import capabilities, making migration easier than ever before.
