Sybase Expands U.S. Government Leadership with Key Advisory Role
and Addition of New Federal Sector Head DUBLIN, Calif., Dec. 6

announced two milestones in the expansion of its U.S. Government
sector leadership. Chairman, CEO & President John S. Chen today
was sworn in to the President's Export Council, the U.S.
government's principal advisory body on international trade. The
company also announced that Federal industry veteran Bob Laurence
has been appointed to run Sybase's expanding Public Sector

Sybase Increases Government Sector Leadership The company also
bolstered its leadership position in the government sector with the
addition of 25-year veteran Robert B. Laurence as vice president,
public sector. In this role, Mr. Laurence will help Sybase expand
the ways its technology solutions help the government provide
better service to citizens; operate more effectively; and protect
national and homeland security. Most recently, Mr. Laurence founded
Lyceum Network Integration, a Virginia-based technology services
firm in 1998 where he served as President and CEO. His involvement
with technology has encompassed more than 25 years of industry
service including top executive positions with Oracle, PRC and
