Choice Award SYNOPSIS: Network Computing editors cite Afaria as
'compelling and synergistic' and praise its ease of use, rich
feature set and granular control of mobile devices. DUBLIN, Calif.,
Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., a
subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), today announced that
XcelleNet(R) Afaria(R) 5.1 received Network Computing's Editor's
Choice Award, as highlighted in the publication's August 19 issue.
A previous version, Afaria 4.51, won Network Computing's Editor's
Choice Award in 2002. Nine vendors were invited to submit their
mobile device management software for testing at Network
Computing's Real World Labs in Syracuse, New York. The review
process focused on a broad range of management features, including
inventory, configuration and security, and on an equally broad
range of handheld platforms. XcelleNet's Afaria took first place
honors over competitors that included Mobile Automation,
Intellisync and Novell. "After testing on a multitude of device
types, OSs, versions and service providers, we named iAnywhere's
XcelleNet Afaria 5.1 our Editor's Choice. It was a breeze to run,
with an impressive feature set and granular client control," said
Network Computing reviewer, Frank Bulk. "Afaria had a rich set of
features across most platforms, and organizations contemplating
advanced applications requiring databases should be comforted by
its integration with iAnywhere." Afaria is the software of choice
for leading companies worldwide who centrally manage and secure
devices, data and applications used at the frontlines of business.
