June 16, 2010, the United States
Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) confirmed all claims of
VirnetX's U.S. Patent No. 6,502,135 and U.S. Patent No. 7,188,180
are patentable and valid.
U.S. Patent No. 6,502,135, entitled "Agile Network Protocol for
Secure Communications with Assured System Availability" and U.S.
Patent No. 7,188,180, entitled "Method for Establishing Secure
Communication Link Between Computers of Virtual Private Network,"
were determined to have been infringed by Microsoft at a jury trial
in a patent infringement suit that was settled by VirnetX and
Microsoft for $200 million on
May 17, 2010.
