/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dumont Nickel, Clifton's joint venture
partner, has announced it is preparing for a Spring drilling
program to test its "recently-discovered Carlin style disseminated
sediment-hosted gold target at the Rattler Project Area" on our
jointly-held claims in the Clifton Mining District. Dumont stated:
"The 3.5 square mile Project Area hosts a 3 km long and 1 km wide
corridor of gold anomalies with upward to 0.48 ppm gold in soil
samples. The anomalies are reinforced by underlying outcrops of
equally anomalous gold bearing calcareous siltstone, gold bearing
siliceous material and related jasperoids in a complexly faulted
geological setting. The association of gold bearing jasperoids,
abundant silification and the calcareous siltstone is significant."
"The eastern half of the anomalous gold corridor overlies
calcareous siltstone with potential for Carlin style sediment
hosted disseminated gold. The calcareous silty units occupy two
elongate domains, measuring 1.5 km x 0.5 km. This is the first such
geological setting discovered in the Clifton - Gold Hill District."
"The western half of the anomalous gold corridor overlies gold
bearing siliceous material, quartzite, and related jasperoids. This
portion of the corridor is in a completely faulted geological
setting dominated by a 2 km long and 200 m wide wrench fault system
which appears to be associated with most of the gold anomalies.
Surface work will continue during the next few months, as permitted
by weather, to better resolve structural controls of gold
mineralization in this area, with a view to advancing it toward
drill-testing later in the year." In an earlier announcement, it
was noted that drill holes at the southern part of this Project
Area intersected 20 meters of material containing between 1 and 2
grams per ton gold. For the purposes of gauging volume of material,
an area 1.5 km by 0.5 km would contain just over 2 million tons for
every meter of depth. An area 2 km by 200 m would contain just over
1 million tons for every meter of depth. Clifton trades on the U.S.
