Clifton Mining Company Inc. (OTC : CFTN) ALPINE, UT, May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Clifton Mining Company is pleased to announce that drilling has commenced at the Joint Venture Rattler Project, Utah, to test the Carlin style disseminated sediment hosted gold target. This target comprises a series of surface gold anomalies in calcareous siltstone. The current drill program is the first such program to test the area, and will consist of three to five reverse circulation holes with an aggregate footage of 1,500 feet, with the principal objective of testing for vertical continuity of gold sampled on surface over a 300m x 500m area. The 3.5 square mile Rattler Project Area hosts a 3km long and 1km wide corridor of gold anomalies with upward to 0.48 ppm gold in soil samples. The anomalies were discovered during reconnaissance surface soil sampling and are reinforced by underlying outcrops of equally anomalous gold bearing calcareous siltstone, gold bearing siliceous material and related jasperoids, in a complexly faulted geological setting. The eastern half of the anomalous gold corridor overlies calcareous siltstone occupying two elongate domains, measuring 1.5km x 0.5km each, trending southeasterly across the Project Area. The association of gold bearing jasperoids, abundant silicification and calcareous siltstone is significant, suggesting good potential for the Area to host Carlin style sediment hosted disseminated gold mineralization. This is the first such geological setting discovered in the Clifton-GoldHill District. Clifton trades on the U.S. OTC: (CFTN).
