This Christmas, Domtar and the Literacy Foundation are donating
7,200,000 sheets of paper to 320 literacy organizations across
Quebec and Ontario serving 30,000 adults in training MONTREAL, Dec.
2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The 8th anniversary of Domtar's Paper
Christmas for Literacy is upon us, and the Literacy Foundation and
Domtar are once again partnering to support literacy by donating
paper to 320 literacy organizations across Quebec and Ontario - 20
more than last year. A total of 7,200,000 sheets will be
distributed for the use of the 30,000 individuals that benefit from
these programs. Delivery of the baskets of paper began on November
29 and ends on December 10, 2004. This distribution would not be
possible without the invaluable contribution of Domtar employees
and the 13 carriers that travel 176,000 km across Quebec and
Ontario to hand the paper over to the organizations. "Since 1997,
some 40 million sheets of paper have been donated to literacy
organizations. In keeping with this tradition, Domtar and the
Literacy Foundation are pursuing a common objective of supporting
literacy and showing their appreciation for the efforts of
illiterate individuals by providing them with an essential tool -
paper. For us, Domtar's Paper Christmas for Literacy represents a
marvelous opportunity to tangibly underscore the importance of the
work they accomplish and demonstrate our appreciation," stated
Claude Belley, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources, Domtar Inc.
