Sheraton Work-Life Study Reveals 87% of Workplace Professionals
Take PDA to Bed According to a new work-life study from Sheraton
Hotels, 87% of professionals bring their PDA into the bedroom and
35% say that, if forced to choose, they'd pick their PDA over their
spouse! On the heels of this survey, Sheraton invites
technology-addicted New York professionals to swap their ties for
t-shirts and spend the day working in Central Park. They will join
more than 600 associates from parent company Starwood Hotels &
Resorts, as the company relocates its offices to work remotely for
the first-ever "Global Out of the Office Day" on Monday, Sept. 15,
beginning at 9am in Central Park, adjacent to Sheep's Meadow.
Sheraton SVP Hoyt Harper will kick off the event by ringing the New
York Stock Exchange opening bell, while Starwood CEO Frits Van
Paasschen simultaneously opens Central Park for business with a
"remote ringing." The event launches Sheraton's new signature hotel
offering: the "Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft," a unique
lobby technology lounge that enables guests to work and stay
connected while traveling, with free Wi-Fi, Microsoft Windows-based
computers, webcams, TV and daily newspapers. Sheraton will
replicate its hotel version in Central Park by constructing a
34,000 square foot "Link@Sheraton" -- with free Wi-Fi, 50 computer
stations and two 52" TVs with live cable TV - where thousands will
work from the Park for the day. At the event, Sheraton will also
kick off a newly inked sponsorship of free Wi-Fi in Sheep Meadow
for the month of September and Summer 2009. SATELLITE FEEDS:
