ITNET AWARDED #83M CONTRACT WITH THE CABINET OFFICE
Birmingham, 28 July 2003: ITNET, a leading IT, business process outsourcing and
business consulting company, today announces that it has been awarded a Data
Centre Hosting Project contract from the Cabinet Office. The committed value of
the initial five-year contract is #83m with options for further service and for
a further two year extension, making this the single largest contract win in
the Company's history. The contract is also the Company's first major win in
the important Central Government market, one of its key target sectors.
ITNET will be responsible for providing a fully resilient, cost-effective and
secure managed service for the three infrastructure building blocks.
From 28 July 2003, ITNET will be involved in transferring the Government
Gateway, an authentication and routing service; the Knowledge Network, a
Government information sharing facility; and Delivering on the Promise (DotP),
a pan-government content management system, from the existing arrangements to a
single managed service. Other Government departments will be able to make use of
this hosting capability in the future.
Bridget Blow, Chief Executive of ITNET, commented "Working with the Cabinet
Office to deliver this electronic transformation complements the services ITNET
has offered since 1987 - achieving high value business benefits through
technology, process and people. ITNET's support in improving the quality of
Government services is key to our Public sector strategy. This contract win is
evidence of ITNET's strong reputation and expertise within Central Government
IT services."
