Art fundraiser to take over Toronto this summer in support of Brain Health Awareness; Amaya sponsors Brain installation

MONTREAL, March 18, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Amaya Inc. (NASDAQ: AYA; TSX: AYA), a leading provider of technology-based products and services in the global gaming and interactive entertainment industries, today announced that it is a sponsor of The Brain Project, presented by TELUS, an eclectic, vibrant, art exhibition designed to promote brain health.

The project consists of a range of artists creating diverse brain sculptures to be placed in popular public areas around Toronto to drive interest and awareness in brain health. Amaya is paired with digital modern artist Ron Wild, who will create a sculpture using an extreme mapping montage technique that will reflect the strategic and creative elements of the human brain used when making decisions in poker, chess and other competitive sports.

"Amaya is happy to support the The Brain Project and to advance public awareness of important issues surrounding mental health and awareness," said David Baazov, Amaya Chairman and CEO.  "Poker is a mind sport and a form of entertainment which heavily encompasses strategic thought, helping to keep the brain healthy and active. Many of the poker world's top players find a healthy diet means a healthy mind, and a healthy mind means better results."

Other participating Brain Project artists include: Mr. Brainwash, celebrated Los Angeles-based filmmaker and street artist known for his pop-graffiti creations; Gary Taxali, whose retro, stylized art has been shown in the Andy Warhol Museum, The Whitney Museum of American Art and the Contemporary Art Museum in Rome; Samara Shuter, a painter who channels her passion for fashion, street art, and graphic design into lush canvases dedicated to the tailored suit; and Karim Rashid, a "poet of plastic" whose work with luxury goods, furniture, lighting, surface design and brand identity inspired Time magazine to name him "the most famous industrial designer in all the Americas."

The Brain Project is led by prominent co-chairs Ben Mulroney (host of etalk) and Jessica Mulroney (PR, marketing and events, Kleinfeld HBC and co-founder of the Shoebox Project), Erica Godfrey (graphic designer) and Noah Godfrey (founder and general manager of Checkout 51). Together they are working with notable committee members and  established art experts including Sandra Ainsley (owner of Sandra Ainsley Gallery), Clara Halpern (RBC Curatorial Fellow at The Power Plant, Toronto), Anda Kubis (associate dean of outreach and innovation in the Faculty of Art at OCAD University) and Ann Priftis (senior manager business development, Amazon Art and head of art at the Fabergé Egg Hunt, NYC) to curate over 50 brains designed by a diverse group of talented artists including architects, fashion designers and fine artists.
