(TSX: SNC) announces today two senior appointments within its
Infrastructure and Power groups.
Ian Edwards, Executive
Vice-President, Infrastructure Construction,
Infrastructure
Ian Edwards is named
Executive Vice-President, Infrastructure Construction, within the
company's Infrastructure group, effective November 3. Mr. Edwards will be based in
Montreal and report to
Hisham Mahmoud, President,
Infrastructure, SNC-Lavalin.
The Infrastructure Group's Infrastructure Construction
business unit provides construction services for infrastructure
projects in a variety of sectors, including urban transit and heavy
rail systems, super-hospitals, highways, bridges, airport terminals
and water facilities. The Infrastructure Construction business
frequently works in an integrated fashion with the Infrastructure
group's concession investments, engineering, and operations and
maintenance businesses.
Mr. Edwards has over 30 years of experience in delivering
complex infrastructure projects across Europe and Asia. He joins SNC-Lavalin after
six years in senior roles with the Leighton Group. In 2012, he
became the Managing Director, Leighton Asia, India and Offshore, where he led a diverse
business of 20,000 employees spanning the construction,
infrastructure, oil and gas and mining sectors in 14 countries. For
four years prior to this, Mr. Edwards was Executive General
Manager, Leighton Asia Limited,
where he secured sustainable, year-on-year business growth and
significantly enhanced shareholder returns.
Mr. Edwards holds Higher and Ordinary Certificates in
Civil Engineering from Lancashire University in the United Kingdom. He is also an incorporated
Member of the Chartered Institute of Building and a Fellow of the
Institution of Civil Engineers, as well as the Hong Kong
Institution of Engineers.
Pierre St-Arnaud,
Executive Vice-President, Transmission & Distribution,
Power
Pierre St-Arnaud is named
Executive Vice-President, Transmission & Distribution
(T&D), within the company's Power group, effective December 8. Mr. St-Arnaud will be based in
Calgary and report to Alexander (Sandy) Taylor, President, Power.
SNC-Lavalin's Power group also includes nuclear power plant
(including Candu reactor technology), hydro power plant and thermal
power plant businesses.
As a leading provider of services in its field,
SNC-Lavalin's T&D business unit works with global clients to
deliver cost-effective, sustainable and customized solutions for
electrical transmission and distribution systems. This includes
consulting services, feasibility studies and a combination of
engineering, procurementand/or construction services, for projects
ranging fromhigh-voltage transmission infrastructure (up to 800 KV
and HVDC expertise up to +/- 600 KV DC), to related automation and
telecommunication subsystems.
Mr. St-Arnaud has more than 35 years of international
experience with high technology and high value-added manufacturing
and engineering companies, including as CEO of SR Telecom and
senior executive roles at Hydro-Québec and ABB. He has acted as
President and General Manager of ABB France for the past four
years. At ABB, Mr. St-Arnaud developed and implemented innovative
strategies which resulted in higher customer satisfaction levels,
profitability and quality of project execution.
Mr. St-Arnaud holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
from the École Polytechnique de Montréal, and a Master's of
Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
He is also a Member of the Quebec Order of Engineers.
