On Time and on Budget

MONTREAL, July 4, 2016 /CNW/ - Claude Lochhead, Vice-President of the IFSI (Infrastructure famille santé inc.) consortium, an SNC-Lavalin entity, and Dr. Fabrice Brunet, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHU (Centre hospitalier universitaire) Sainte-Justine and CHUM, are pleased to announce that a notice of Substantial completion was issued on June 29 for the turnkey construction component of the Grandir en santé (Growing Up Healthy) project, exactly as planned in the agreement signed in May 2012.

"We are very happy with the results of our partner IFSI's work. IFSI met a very tight deadline with a very demanding project, if only from a technological standpoint," states Dr. Fabrice Brunet, President and CEO of CHU Sainte-Justine and CHUM. "Moreover, the notice of completion comes with a full release, providing a resolution to all of the business issues of the turnkey component."

"We are proud of our participation in such an iconic project that gives the health network a modern, state-of-the-art infrastructure to serve Quebec mothers and children," says Claude Lochhead, Vice-President of the IFSI consortium.

Robert Nadeau, Project Director at SNC-Lavalin, adds, "We are pleased to have met this goal, which brings to fruition four years of hard work and herculean effort by an entire team of dedicated, devoted workers and professionals."

Grandir en santé continues to move forward as per its approved timeframe and budget, which is just under $940 million for all of the equipment and stages of the project, including the reorganization of existing premises, which will take place over the next two years.

The deferred portion of the work, to be done over the next four (4) months, does not exceed one per cent (1%) of the value of the initial agreement reached with IFSI, which is excellent. For the most part, this consists of landscaping work, scheduled for the very end of the project, and finishing work in the Research Center and on the two auditoriums.

The two parties now have 14 days to formalize the issuing of Substantial completion certificate, once the new facilities have been inspected and documents certifying full compliance of the work delivered have been examined. CHU Sainte-Justine's clinical teams will start the clinical commissioning period of the new facilities in mid-July, while patients will be transferred in December, as planned.
