German airline Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA.XE) said Thursday it can't confirm a report in Austrian newspaper Der Standard saying Lufthansa has made more concessions in its bid to get European Commission clearance of its planned takeover of Austrian Airlines AG (AUA.VI).

Earlier Thursday the paper cited unnamed commission sources as saying Lufthansa has submitted a revised offer, which includes dropping flights between Vienna and Frankfurt and Vienna and Geneva.

Last week a commission spokesman said clearance of the deal was unlikely before the end of July, a deadline Lufthansa has said would be paramount to follow through with the acquisition.
