                    Resignation of a Non-Executive Director                    

The Berkeley Group plc (`Berkeley') announces the resignation of Derek Sach
from the Board of Berkeley with immediate effect. He served on the Board from
29th June 1999 during an exciting time of growth and we are grateful for the
role he played as a Non-Executive Director during this period. We wish him
every success in the future.

As a result of this resignation, the Board now comprises of a Chairman, 3
Non-Executive Directors and 5 Executive Directors.
