'We get another kick at the can)' - we do indeed .... still no idea what's up, no news out yet .... but there sure have been a lot traded lately, at a pretty decent average price [i consider my a.c.b. to be minimum standard for decency-g-] .... it's all kind of inevitable really, with Miramar holding 40% of it ..... might take a while though, probably februaryish for seasonal peak[?] .... just re-discovered this thread on my bookmarks, SI is down so i'm exploring ...... cheers

Sherwood Confirms Prospectivity of Elu Belt for VMS-Style Mineralization
Sherwood Mining Corporation (TSX-V:SWM) is pleased to announce the results of an independent review of the
potential of the Elu belt for the discovery of volcanogenic massive sulphide (“VMS”) style mineralization conducted on the
Elu Belt in Nunavut. Consultant Dr. James Franklin Ph.D. FRSC, a respected expert on VMS-style mineralization in
Canada and world wide and former chief geoscientist with the Geologic Survey of Canada, concluded that the Elu belt has
excellent prospectivity for the discovery of VMS deposits.
“It is very encouraging to have an expert of Dr. Franklin’s calibre confirm our belief that the Elu belt has excellent potential
for the discovery of VMS deposits,” said Bruce McLeod, President of Sherwood. “As a result of Dr. Franklin’s report,
Sherwood is planning a follow-up work program at Elu as per Dr. Franklin’s recommendations.”
Sherwood’s 100% owned Elu property encompasses a greenstone belt where to two parallel belts of felsic volcanic
stratigraphy located approximately 4.5 km apart that are prospective for the discovery of volcanogenic massive sulphide
deposits. As previously reported, during 2002 ground geophysics and drilling of 15 core holes were completed and results
suggested that the eastern trend is the most prospective, particularly in the Grizzly and Fox areas. Four drill holes in this
area intersected semi -massive sulphides in a favourable geologic setting while one interested two intervals of massive
sulphides.
Dr. Franklin was retained to review all the results of the exploration drilling, with a particular emphasis on the alteration,
geochemistry and geologic setting, with a view to evaluating the potential of the Elu belt to host VMS-style mineralization.
Dr. Franklin reports that the volcanic rocks exhibit a clear bi-modal origin, while argillaceous sediments (which could act
as an effective cap rock) appear to fill pull-apart basins within the volcanic pile and, suggesting an extensional basin
environment in an evolved arc system. This is a typical setting for VMS deposits. A number of factors, including the
geologic setting, host rock chemistry, trace element geochemistry, metal ratios and alteration zonation, led Dr. Franklin to
conclude that the Elu belt has excellent prospectivity for VMS deposits, particularly along the eastern trend.
Based on the results of his assessment, Dr. Franklin recommends detailed mapping and sampling along the favourable
horizons to further refine the targeting for future exploration drilling. A program is currently being planned in accordance
with these recommendations, and is expected to be completed in August 2002.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
This information is reported under an extensive quality control program supervised by Dean McDonald, P.Geo. Ph.D.,
Exploration Manager with Miramar Mining Corporation, the major shareholder of Sherwood. Dean McDonald is an
appropriately qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Miramar Mining Corporation (TSE:MAE) owns
10 million shares of Sherwood.

At the .17 bid i'm six cents underwater, all things considered i think i'll just keep holding the thing ... thinking about it less and less anyway, as others provide greater excitement in the near term ... i may be a little more hopeful on the Elu than you sound here, but the main thing is the Miramar interest, combined with the vastness of the north - i think they'll maintain it as a viable exploration vehicle and they'll stand reasonable chances of hitting something sometime .... maybe in the diamonds, maybe before we croak from too much fun, who knows

First Point - i've been keeping an eye on it since you mentioned it on Winter ... back now to something of a support level ~.45ish ... there are some notable names listed on stockwatch participants ... this is one where i plan to go over the cdnx bulletins looking for who is taking down placements ... always good to see a Tognetti on your side -g-

You think the Elu is drilled and killed? ...

Yes, in a word.

.... then there are the diamond properties, yes, looks like Miramar intends Sherwood to be their exploration vehicle for anything other than Hope Bay? ... they have a big interest here ...

yup

as for promotion, i didn't notice any anywhere, but there could have been something go out that would explain that trading 22-29 May ... missed it, i was quite busy and away most of that time ... the drillbit plays generally have not gotten attention lately, gng.v is another without anything defined to date, it's acting pretty sick ......

A drill play I am interested in and following is FPX and their gold play down south in central america.

so did you sell swm on that weak excuse for a run?

Sadly, no.

You think the Elu is drilled and killed? ... didn't look like that to me, they hit mineralisation, short intersections but still sign of presence, and that was only the first brief programme on what is a large property ... they said they'd go at it again in the summer with better defined targets .... then there are the diamond properties, yes, looks like Miramar intends Sherwood to be their exploration vehicle for anything other than Hope Bay? ... they have a big interest here ... as for promotion, i didn't notice any anywhere, but there could have been something go out that would explain that trading 22-29 May ... missed it, i was quite busy and away most of that time ... the drillbit plays generally have not gotten attention lately, gng.v is another without anything defined to date, it's acting pretty sick ...... so did you sell swm on that weak excuse for a run?

marcos,
I'm thinking the best remaining hope forSWD is for some good indicator minerals to be found down ice from some anomalies that will show up from re working the airborne geophysical database. It was a short lived promotion eh)
cheers,

Zzzzzzz ... pretty sleepy in the Surewould lately, teevee ... July now, summer programme should be just about starting, maybe they're into it already? .... very low volume, hasn't traded much since your post here in late May .... time for them to put out an update release maybe

SWM-volume price alert...wow...there was a wall at $.33 and it got taken out! I can hardly wait for the news. Maybe a halt coming?

Hey, surprise ... what do you think of iHub so far ... there's a thread called General Mining, search with ticker 'mining' - http://investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=622
... very few resources players here, but more should drift in, it's an excellent structure, good backup to SI in case that goes down the tubes

I'm not that surprised at Sherwood recovering a little, more surprised at how long it took to start, actually .... good idea to check for staking, but don't they have the whole peninsula tied up already .... it's a big camp now, and they're only getting started .... oh ok, then i see you mention the diamonds, all right that is a separate property ..... sure, they could be scoring indicators there, maybe a little staking .... that release got ignored, where mae/hgc sort of made swm their total exploration arm, in adding the diamond properties to the Elu ..... it's the latter in which i have the most interest, very involved with the yeller dog lately

This shareprice level not that significant imho .... what counts is, how many of those 40-cent warrants get exercised ... i'll be more than a little surprised if quite a few of them don't replenish the treasury by say October

marcos,
With the sudden interest in SWM, I've been thinking that some of the massive suphide conductors have been drilled and the core looks good, but with all the airborne geophysical data, maybe SWM has hit some kimberlite? All the sudden interest is for good reason. I will check to see if any more staking has been going on. That might tell us if it is a diamond play or not.
cheers,
teevee

Thing is b/a .30/.33 just now, that is encouraging ... 40k Yorkton bid at .28

Here is sedar - http://www.sedar.com/ ... got to pick your language, then proceed to search for Sherwood either by keyword or alphabetically .... here, i'll try pasting a direct url to swm sedars, but i don't know if the database permits them to work always - http://www.sedar.com/command_servlet?cmd=DisplayCompanyDocuments&issuerNo=00003448&lang=EN

Anyway, once you get there, scroll down and check out that 'final long form prospectus', a file of 1539k posted 07 December last ['01] .... lots of detail

In case any new to resources come by and see this, here is an essay by John Kaiser originally printed in stockwatch in 1990, a pretty decent start to a foundation for a structure of thought regarding highly speculative projects of this nature -

http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=15869077
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=15869083
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=15869086

... this was even before der Kaiser coined the term 'bottom-fish', he was still calling them 'longshots' ... ok now read it again, absorb it, it's good stuff .... and here's a variation, the Three Ps approach - there are three essential Ps - People, Property, and Phinancing .... without the first, People, you have nothing and never will have anything, because poor People can screw up development of the best Property and blow all the Phinancing on useless or self-enriching expenditure ..... whereas good People will eventually trip across a decent Property if they don't already have one, and they'll get Phinanced by somebody, don't worry

So on People with swm, i'm mostly judging from their sedars [look up Sherwood under www.sedar.com] ... everything looks in order, professionally done .... it helps that they put out a prospectus late last year, that's quite a document, gives a lot of detail on Elu and their plans for it .... looks like a decent Property, you might say .... and clearly they have Phinancing sufficient for current exploration programmes ..... update on the spring programme should be coming along next week, it is said
