PARIS, March 19, 2014
/PRNewswire/ -- Atos, an international IT services company, today
announced that it has won a new five-year global data centre
transformation contract with Huntsman Corporation, a global
manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals. Today's
announcement marks an extension of the longstanding partnership
between the two Companies, which dates back to 2004 when Atos
started providing SAP services for Huntsman out of Belgium.
Under the new global agreement, Atos will assume services and
support of several Huntsman global data centres, actively manage
cost improvements, increase overall efficiency and effective
service provisioning. Additionally, Atos will manage a global
transformation project to consolidate services and operations into
two US sites, located in Texas.
These are currently spread over three regional locations in
Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
As part of the Atos solution, the SAP legacy environment will be
transitioned to a dedicated private cloud solution tailored to
Huntsman's requirements. It will be built on a standardised
platform based on an OPEX capacity utilization model provided by
Canopy, an Atos company and a one-stop shop for Cloud computing.
For Huntsman, this will mean a significant reduction in capital
expenditure with improved disaster recovery while maintaining a
secure environment focused on proactive risk mitigation.
Maria Womersley, Vice
President and CIO of Global IT at Huntsman said: "The Atos team
engaged in a thorough job of assessing our business requirements,
developing a robust global data centre solution, and proposing a
tenable project plan which met the challenges and demands of both
our IT and business organizations. We are confident in our
partnership as we embark on this significant transformation, and
look forward to achieving the mutual objectives of a successful
implementation."
Martin Wibbe, Vice President,
Chemicals market at Atos said: "Using our knowledge from our
experience of working with Huntsman in Belgium, we designed a solution that would
best fit Huntsman's global needs and are delighted to be awarded
this contract by one of the largest, most internationally
successful and well known US chemical companies. Our focus now will
be to work in collaboration with Huntsman to ensure a smooth
transition to the new service.
For Atos, the partnership with Huntsman is important and will help
to further strengthen our growing position in the US market where
we serve both international and local clients."
