Circuit Research Labs Inc. (OTCBB: CRLI), parent company of
Orban/CRL, listed No. 192 on Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 in
North America, announced the release of the Orban Opticodec 1020 FE
encoding application for netcasting, file encoding, podcasting,
audio content downloading and mobile 3GPP Devices. A product of
Orban's Personal Computer Product Division, Opticodec 1020 FE is
the latest in Orban's line of "Optimized Audio" products for the
Internet. The 1020 FE line supports the MP4 family of codecs
including AAC and HE-AAC/aacPlus(R). It can produce
iPod(R)-compatible podcasts that can be streamed live or played on
demand, even when the file is still downloading. Also included are
file hinting for streaming applications and 3GPP mobile phones. The
1020 FE can tag and add graphics for album art and/or logos. Thanks
to the high efficiency aacPlus codec, downloads of quality
comparable to high bit rate MP3s and WMAs can be done in half the
time, using half of the bandwidth, yielding a superior experience
for the user and cost savings for the content provider. The
Opticodec 1020 FE Professional and Enterprise editions support
batch encoding that can be launched from the application or command
line. 3GPP Hinting is available on the Enterprise edition only.
"This is a high-quality, full-featured AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus encoder
with all the necessary tools and features in one application. It is
no longer necessary to use several potentially incompatible
applications for various file operations," said Greg Ogonowski,
Orban/CRL VP of product development. For information contact Orban
