Dow Jones News
German insurance association GDV said Tuesday insured damages
from Germany's floods this year were slightly higher than in the
2002 flood of the Elbe River.
MAIN FACTS:
-GDV said insured damages this year amounted to 2 billion euro
($2.6 billion), above the EUR1.8 billion in damages incurred in
2002.
-The number of claims was also higher, at 180,000 this year,
versus 150,000 claims in 2002.
-The amount of individual damage claims was a bit lower than in
2002, since many people were better prepared for the floods, GDV
added.
