PR Newswire (US)
FITCHBURG, Mass., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Integrated
Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (IntePharm) (Pink Sheets: INTP) announced
today that it is introducing a calcium product that can include an
artificial sweetener such as Splenda(TM), Sweet 'N Low(TM), or
Equal(TM). This new product can be added to hot or cold beverages
as an ordinary sweetener, delivering calcium in a manner that has
essentially the same taste as the sweetener itself, and no
noticeable effect on the color or odor of the beverage. Dr. Chinmay
Chatterjee said that this product will deliver calcium, one of the
most essential nutrients, as and when needed. IntePharm's new
product increases the absorbability of calcium more than any other
calcium supplement currently available in the market. "With this
product introduction, IntePharm expects to deliver the right kind
of calcium supplement to those who regularly use artificial
sweeteners in their beverages, including the nation's 18 million
diabetics, an additional 41 million who are at risk for developing
the disease and all those who are constantly watching their
weight," said Dr. Chatterjee, President and CEO of Integrated
Pharmaceuticals, Inc. To the best of IntePharm's knowledge, no
other manufacturer has a similar product on the market. Dr.
Chatterjee said that this product would be very beneficial for
overweight adult and children because calcium helps dieters to lose
weight. He pointed out that 65% of adult males, 55% of adult
females and more than 10% of children are overweight. Dr.
Chatterjee pointed out that more than 5 billion Splenda(TM) packs
were used last year or almost 9,000 packs per minute, and said that
a considerable fraction of these users could benefit from the use
of the Company's new product. This product is also expected to be
an essential ingredient for Calcium fortified drinks. Close to a
$1.8 billion worth of fortified beverages were sold last year. Dr.
Chatterjee said that taking calcium in commonly-used beverages
could become the most effective way of delivering calcium because
of its convenience and most importantly, the body absorbs calcium
better in frequent, small doses rather than a single large tablet.
According to the US Surgeon General's report of 2004, approximately
34 million Americans are at risk to suffer from osteoporosis and 10
million Americans already suffer from the disease. In addition to
being essential for these people, calcium also has significant
beneficial effects for obesity, high blood pressure, colon cancer
and kidney stones. Dr. Chatterjee said that the achievement of
delivering calcium and a sweetener in one simple packet is a major
scientific and business milestone for the company. IntePharm could
achieve this combined delivery format due to its next generation
manufacturing technology which produces extremely pure quality of
the product, a quality level that exceeds even the US Pharmacopoeia
standards at an affordable price. Dr. Chatterjee mentioned further
that the company is in active discussion with several nationwide
and regional chain stores for distribution of its new product in
the very near future. "We are excited to introduce IntePharm's
innovative technology to well-positioned marketers servicing retail
food and drug chains, mass merchandisers, foodservice chains,
nutraceutical companies and multi-level marketing firms in both the
US and Canada." About IntePharm IntePharm is an emerging producer
of pharmaceuticals, specialty compounds for the pharmaceutical,
nutraceutical and functional food and beverage industries. In

pending patents for new products and technologies for immediate
