Japanese trading company Itochu Corp. (8001.TO) is joining
private equity company KKR & Co. (KKR) in its $7 billion-plus
bid for U.S. oil and gas company Samson Investment Co., Reuters
reported Monday on its website, citing unnamed sources.
Itochu would have a 25% stake in the deal, while KKR would hold
60%, the report cited the sources as saying. Other private equity
investors, led by NGP Energy Capital Management and Crestview
Partners, would have a 15% stake, the report said.
The deal between KKR and Samson is near completion and is
expected to be announced as early as Tuesday, the report quoted two
of the sources as saying.
KKR declined comment, while Samson couldn't be immediately
reached for comment and Itochu, NGP and Crestview didn't
immediately respond to a request for comment, the report said.
