ZURICH--SMI closes 0.51% higher Monday at 8291.10, with 16 stocks rising and four falling. The country's biggest bank, UBS AG (UBSN.VX), rises 1.4% a day ahead of its scheduled third-quarter earnings report, while shares of fellow banking giant Credit Suisse Group AG (CSGN.VX) falling 0.3%, days after issuing a disappointing profit result for the period. Shares of private bank Julius Baer Group AG (BAER.VX) rise 1.2%. Zurich Insurance Group AG (ZURN.VX) sees its shares rise 1.1% after the insurance giant was upgraded in an analyst report. Reinsurance major Swiss Re AG (SREN.VX) gains 0.6% ahead of the firm's earnings report scheduled for next week.
