I've had this on my watchlist for probably 7 years or more, never seen this kind of volume. I don't see any filings, SEC or SOS, to indicate why the volume occurred, the company was taken private many years ago, then acquired back in October. Don't know if the shell itself was part of the acquisition deal or not.
Just based on what I saw with the trading action it looked very pump and dump-ish to me. Maybe an old shareholder had a bunch of shares to sell, but there was zero liquidity, so they pay a promoter a couple hundred bucks to send out an email blast...?? Seems the most likely scenario IMO, only ran for a couple minutes before it started getting dumped down hard.
I generally like speculative type plays but personally I wouldn't touch this unless I see some filings.
