There is no indication that Hungarian energy company MOL Nyrt (MOL.BU) is leaving the Nabucco consortium, which is planning to build a pipeline to carry Caspian natural gas to the European Union, the EU's executive body and a spokesman for Nabucco said Tuesday.

"The Nabucco Pipeline project is based on a treaty that was signed and ratified by the transit countries, including Hungary," said Nabucco spokesman Christian Dolezal, in a statement. "The Nabucco shareholder in Hungary is FGSZ, a MOL subsidiary, and we have not had any indication that this will change," he said.

Dolezal was responding to press reports quoting Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban saying that MOL would be leaving the Nabucco project.

His comments were echoed by Marlene Holzner, spokeswoman for European Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger, who said the EU's executive body--which has been strongly supporting Nabucco--has had "no indication" of any change.
