BUDAPEST--Hungarian oil company MOL Nyrt. (MOL.BU) announced Thursday a deal to buy a 49% share in JSC Karpovskiy Severniy, the holder of the North Karpovsky exploration license in Kazakhstan, a subsidiary of JSC Kazmunaigas Exploration and Production (RDGZ.KX), owned by Kazakh state oil company JSC Kazmunaigas.

MAIN FACTS:

- MOL Announces Deal to Buy 49% in Kazakh JSC Karpovskiy Severniy

- JSC Karpovskiy Severniy is owned by JSC Kazmunaigas Exploration and Production

- North Karpovsky block located in the vicinity of MOL's Fedorovsky block

- MOL has 27.5% share in Fedorovsky block

- Total prospective recoverable resources are 240 million BOE, according to KMG EP estimates

- Area well covered by seismic data, information from exploration wells, MOL says

- Transaction subject to consent of Kazakh ministry, and EU, local antimonopoly bodies

- MOL closed up 0.6% at HUF16,800 Wednesday.
