The Motion Picture Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:MPRG), a film/entertainment financing and production company, announced today that its feature film HOUNDDOG was selected for the Dramatic Competition at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival to be held January 18-28, 2007 in Park City, Utah. The film, written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier, stars Dakota Fanning, Robin Wright-Penn, David Morse, Afemo Omilami, and Piper Laurie. Executive Producers Scott Franklin and Henri Kessler are the Companys CEO and President. Director Deborah Kampmeier stated, This project has been a long journey and The Motion Picture Group was instrumental in helping bring this film home. For Sundance to give us the opportunity to be in the Dramatic Competition makes us feel like winners already. Its great to see the cast and crew receiving the recognition they deserve for all their hard work. Sundance Film Festival Director Geoffrey Gilmore was quoted in Variety that selecting the 64 entries in four competition categories was more difficult than ever. This years upcoming festival will include 82 world premieres among its 122 feature titles culled from 25 countries. This years submission of 3,287 films was the largest ever for the festival. About the Film: Titled The Untitled Dakota Fanning Project, aka Hounddog by Sundance, this drama is set in the 1960s American South. It is about a troubled 12-year old girl (Fanning) who finds solace from an abusive life in the music of Elvis Presley. Presleys music is placed strategically throughout the film, creating a mural of melancholy life that finds its release and healing through singing the Blues. About the Sundance Film Festival: Founded by Robert Redford in 1981, Sundance Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated year-round to the development of artists of independent vision and to the exhibition of their new work. Since its inception, the Institute has grown into an internationally recognized resource for thousands of independent artists through its Film Festival and artistic development programs from filmmakers, screenwriters, composers, writers, playwrights and theatre artists. The original values of independence, creative risk-taking, and discovery continue to define and guide the work of Sundance Institute, both with US artists and, increasingly, with artists from other regions of the world. The programs of Sundance Institute include the annual Sundance Film Festival which is held in Park City each January and is considered the premier U.S. showcase for American and international independent film.
