PR Newswire (US)
EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medical
Services International Inc (OTC:MSITF) is pleased to announce that
it has acquired an additional distributor in South Africa. The new
distributor has begun an aggressive marketing plan related to the
VScan test kits starting with the VScan HIV test kit. For the first
time, the South African government is asking for tenders related to
Rapid test kits for HIV. The VScan HIV rapid test kit is ideally
suited to the South African environment. The HIV test kit must be
able to be used in remote areas with limited medical facilities and
no refrigeration. The VScan rapid test kit for detection of HIV is
ideally suited to be used in this environment. It is easy to use,
designed specifically to use whole blood in adverse environments
while maintaining an accuracy greater than 99%. It is the only kit
currently available that measures the antibody IgM in whole blood
in the field. IgM is the first antibody to be detected once
infection of the HIV virus has occurred. Prior testing completed by
regulatory bodies in South Africa show that the test kits for HIV
have an accuracy greater than 99%. The new distributor anticipates
that they will require in excess of 2.5 million VScan test kits
over the next 12 months in order to fill the current demand for a
rapid screening test for HIV. About VScan The VScan rapid test kit
is a single use, disposable, accurate, cost effective, easy to use
test for the screening of HIV1&2, Hepatitis B7C, Tuberculosis
(TB), Dengue Fever, West Nile, Syphilis, Malaria and Prostate
Cancer. The kits cannot be sold in Canada. Medical Services
