MTU Aero Engines AG on Tuesday said that its MTU Maintenance Zhuhai joint-venture with China Southern Airlines Co. is setting up an additional location in the Jinwan district of the Chinese city Zhuhai.

The facility, which is expected to have around 600 employees, will focus on Pratt & Whitney narrowbody engines and is expected to start operations in 2024, it said.

"We have made the decision to invest in an additional facility as we are confident of continued recovery in the Asian region and increasing growth and demand for narrowbody engine services moving forward," the German aircraft-engine maker's Chief Program Officer Michael Schreyoegg said.
