Sounds like the SLB Neolith Refinery is done and working so we should see some big news soon. Not sure how long they can keep a lid on this with how Pure has been trading for the last 6 weeks. The whole, no material change message from May 10th isn't going to fly with the exchange as this keeps going. Q3 starts in a few days so maybe we get that big announcement soon...

Pretty simple math really

Lithium carbonate prices rose past CNY 190,000 per tonne, rebounding for the first time since plunging to the 19-month low of CNY 165,500 on April 24th

The Clayton Valley Project contains an inferred mineral resource of 218,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent,

So 190,000 x 218,000 = $ 41,420,000,000 or in other words...... real money.

Looks like professional retail money is getting involved, should see another .25 to .35 from here short term.

When the processing plant is fully operational I would like to see it starting out at about a 10 bag from these levels.

The Resource Estimate totals 40,900 tonnes (45,085 tons) of elemental lithium. This can also be represented as 217,700 tonnes (240,000 tons) on an LCE basis or 247,300 tonnes (272,600 tons) as LiOH·H2 O. The average lithium concentration is 123 mg/L based on the calculated lithium mass and the theoretical drainable volume of the host brine aquifer. A substantial part of the brine volume falls between concentrations of 65 mg/L and 221 mg/L lithium.

Well that was a good entry, they are going through a shakeup with the recent death of the CEO but the reserves are there, they are proven, and they have a strong company for a drill team.
If you can stand the boredom that comes with mining companies you should do very very well.

Why I refuse to invest in mining companies outside the US / Canada / Mexico.

SANTIAGO, April 20 (Reuters) - Chile's President Gabriel Boric said on Thursday he would nationalize the country's lithium industry, the world's second largest producer of the metal essential in electric vehicle batteries, to boost its economy and protect its environment.

The shock move in the country with the world's largest lithium reserves would in time transfer control of Chile's vast lithium operations from industry giants SQM (SQMA.SN) and Albemarle (ALB.N) to a separate state-owned company.

With lithium it is the processing that will make or break these discoveries. Not a big fan of the open pond process so I am hoping this company can pave the way. The have formed a partnership with an excellent driller so maybe the time to market is sooner than we think.

Pure Energy Minerals and SLB Receive Key Permits for DLE Pilot Plant at Clayton Valley Lithium Project, NevadaVancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - March 28, 2023) - Pure Energy Minerals Ltd. PE
PEMIF
("Pure Energy" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that all permits have been received from key governmental agencies for the construction and operation of the direct lithium extraction (DLE) pilot plant at its Clayton Valley lithium brine project ("CV Project") in Esmeralda County, Nevada. The final permit required to operate the DLE pilot plant at the CV Project became effective on March 17, 2023. This permit, together with previously approved permits, authorizes the pilot plant's construction and operation at the Clayton Valley site. Pure Energy's partner, SLB (formerly Schlumberger), through its New Energy business, is responsible for the design, construction and operation of the pilot plant to produce lithium compounds in a highly sustainable manner.

"The development of the pilot plant and application of SLB's sustainable lithium production process at Pure Energy's Clayton Valley project has important potential for lithium brine projects. Its state-of-the-art approach to lithium production conserves water, has a considerably smaller footprint, and reduces environmental impact compared to existing evaporation pond design," stated Mary Little, Pure Energy director. "As the first project of its kind in North America, we are very pleased with the progress made by our partner, SLB, in advancing the pilot plant through the permitting milestones. The CV Project continues to develop, and we look forward to reporting advances as they occur."

Pure Energy's strategic partner, SLB, is operator of the Clayton Valley Project. In May of 2019, Pure Energy and SLB signed an Earn-In agreement over the CV Project which requires significant investment by SLB at the Project, to include the design and construction of a pilot plant capable of processing lithium-bearing brines for high-quality lithium hydroxide monohydrate ("lithium hydroxide" or "LiOH·H2O") and/or lithium carbonate products at a specified rate. For further details regarding SLB's participation, please refer to Pure Energy's Annual General and Special Meeting Management Information Circular dated April 4, 2019, available on SEDAR.com.

On January 3, 2019, the Nevada Division of Water Resources ("NDWR") approved and granted a Finite Term Water Right to Pure Energy, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Esmeralda Minerals LLC, for the extraction of up to 50 acre-feet of brine during a 5-year period from the CV properties. This water right is deemed sufficient for brine testing requirements and SLB's future the pilot plant facility. In July of 2020, the CV-09 well was completed pursuant to the Finite Term Water Right and results of initial sampling were published by Pure Energy on October 14, 2020.

The year 2022 has been marked by substantial progress at the Company's Clayton Valley lithium brine project in central Nevada. With our partner, Schlumberger Technology Corporation ("SLB"), the modified Operating Plan for the on-site pilot plant was approved by the Bureau of Land Management, with concurrent approvals from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, and with additional approvals from various state agencies. Pure Energy received a finite-term water right in late 2018 with sufficient capacity for pilot plant testing. Permitting progress was somewhat slowed by covid restrictions and changes in agency personnel. However, we are pleased with the progress towards the CV pilot plant – it will be the first of its kind in Nevada and likewise the first to implement Direct Lithium Extraction technology ("DLE") there.

The advantages of DLE technology are clear, and well suited to Clayton Valley lithium brines. Of particular importance are its efficiency in recovering lithium from brine in a matter of days vs. more than a year in conventional ponds; significant recovery of precious, clean water resources for reintroduction into the valley's aquifer; plus, a much reduced footprint and environmental impact.

would you give IBAt the best odds to get the lions share of the market

Burba, stepped down 8-months after hiring Garry Flowers. Now Garry is CEO, must be up to something. I think Koch will make Galvanic Energy a deal they won't refuse. Or will make it hard on them in Arkansas.

I am hoping for a buyout from Koch or OXY (Warren Buffett), they are the 2 big dogs in the US they bought DLE patents and have been buying into the better brines.

Question is does Koch and OXY want to wait 4-years to build their DLE with Energy Source or start with a already built DLE. I hope both.

CRT is still deciding who to use, need to watch them close..

Don't know what to make of that description.

Sounds like many steps...doesn't sound to me that they've arrived at a workable solution?

The entire Industry is looking for a workable, profitable way to extract lithium from brine in a shorter time frame than simple solar evaporation while conserving water.

Albemarle has been evaporating their brine out in their ponds out there since the 60s,and I'm sure they're interested in a better solution.

They're pumping a hell of a lot of brine out of that desert aquifer...saw it with my own eyes.

The miner has also approached some of the biggest investment banks asking for recommendations on both lithium companies and projects.

The company estimates that committed lithium supply and capacity expansions will contribute only about 15% to demand growth over the 2020-2050 period. The remaining 85% would need to come from new projects.

The price of Lithium has been increasing at "insane" levels (as Elon Musk tweeted a few weeks ago). If you plotted out a graph the line would be pointing almost straight up, so where the price per ton will be in a few years could be double/triple where it is currently. It increased by 460% last year.

The last page has web addesses if you click on it in the PDF it takes you there.

Schlumberger has been permitted to operate its Clayton Valley Pilot Plant Project – a Li
brine extraction and chemical processing facility – close to the existing Silver Peak Li brine
operated by Albemarle in Nevada (State of Nevada, 2021). The company’s plan is to produce
65.3 tons of Li-based chemicals over an anticipated duration of 18 months, based on a
technology approach described to the State of Nevada (State of Nevada, 2021). Initially, pumped
brine will be reacted with dilute HCl, after which the modified brine will be polished by
removing several ions from it to make it Li-rich. Subsequently, the brine will be passed through
an ion exchange system, with magnesium and calcium ions replaced by sodium ions, and the
system will be degenerated periodically using dilute sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and HCl.
Additional ions will be removed to obtain the final Li-concentrate, which will be treated using
RO to obtain concentrated LiCl. This LiCl will be reacted with sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) to
obtain lithium carbonate, with a secondary step enabling its conversion to LiOH-H2O. Apart
from Li-based chemicals, this process schematic will also produce limestone (CaCO3). Overall,
the key focus of this project seems to be about demonstrating Schlumberger’s DLE capabilities
and highlighting its ability to provide technological solutions in this domain for larger companies
interested in Li-extraction via this technology

Almost all lithium brine mines built since Silver Peak in 1966 make use of some form of evaporation based processing. Consider the changes in battery technology during that same period of time. Are there opportunities for that sort of innovation in lithium production as well? Can we find better and more sustainable ways to extract and process the raw materials needed for this clean energy revolution? We believe the answer to both questions is a resounding YES.

One of Pure Energy’s objectives is to develop and demonstrate an innovative, sustainable and enhanced lithium extraction process as an alternative to the conventional evaporation based technology. There are several candidates for such a breakthrough, most of which are based on some form of selective extraction of lithium from the brine. After researching and evaluating several approaches to the challenge, Pure Energy has advanced through laboratory trials and mini-pilot plant evaluation of some exciting new technology.

The company is working with global technology and mining services provider Tenova Advanced Technologies (TAT) at the process testing, engineering, and design stage on the Clayton Valley Project. Indications from the lab-scale and mini-pilot tests are that the TAT process may outperform conventional and other competing technologies for lithium recovery from certain brines. Preliminary results reported by Pure Energy in 2015, 2016, and 2017 suggest that the TAT technology has the potential for significant advantages over conventional technology*:

pump water down, bring lithium up.
