Pacific West Bancorp (PK) (PWBK) Quote

Now bidding $16 X 21 --- up nice since my original entry ~ $11.00. I assume the recent buying has something to do with yesterdays press release.

What I would like to see is this bank start to make enuf money they could start paying a dividend, and then investors buy it up to 2X book so as to prevent buyout.

Thanks! I'm sure you noticed that UABK got bought out. When UABK did the reverse split they paid out $16 and change per share for odd lots. I found it amazing that not long after that they were bought out at $34.00 per share - not cash - but in stock of the acquiring bank which came out to a little over $34.00 per share.

You remind me of my brother who would jump in an ice cold river near our home in Colorado and only just before he would hit the water would it occur to him that he probably should have dipped his toe in first before he subjected his entire body to the near freezing water! Lol...

It's a solid little bank and well capitalized. No troubled assets..No loans loans 90 days past due.. no non-accruing loans and no OREO (other real estate owned). All good signs!

They're making money..fed rates are rising which is good for a banks bottom line.. and they're experiencing some organic growth.. Whats' not to love right!

It's kind of amazing to me that this little bank wasn't acquired by a larger fish by now. Small banks struggle with reg compliance costs.. its harder to spread that out when youre only dealing with $68M in total assets.

As opposed to the hay-days of 2011/12 its almost impossible now to find any banks selling at a discount. However you should have a little headroom to make a nice profit if the bank gets acquired. The average buy-out price for smaller banks lately has been 1 ~ 1.5x book.

2015 Profit: $82,000
4th Quarter Profit: $40,000

With a "massive" 3rd quarter profit of around 33k PWBO continues to move in the proper direction.

PWBO continues moving in the right direction. 30K to the side for the 2nd quarter of 2014.

With a massive profit of a thousand bucks for the 4th quarter of 2013 and an even bigger profit of 13K for the 1st quarter of 2014, the improvements keep on coming for PWBO.

I don't own shares but do check on this one from time to time.

No TARP...which is good.

Price to Book today is 1.10 @ .83 cents a share...which presumably wouldn't leave much room for profit if someone owned it and another bank came calling.

*No investment interest at this time.

This small bank appears to be going in the right direction and they have never taken a cent of TARP money. It could be that a bright future is just about to unfold for PWBO.
