Telenor said Tuesday that it has named a new chief technology
officer as part of a series of leadership appointments as it
continues to execute its strategy toward 2025, including structural
partnerships and initiatives in Asia.
The Norwegian telecommunications provider said Amol Phadke is
appointed chief technology officer and will be responsible for
setting Telenor's overall technology strategy and research &
innovation ambitions. He will also be responsible for the group
security strategy and chair the Telenor procurement company. Phadke
joins Telenor from Google Cloud, where he was the global general
manager for the telecom industry, and will start Sept. 1.
The current CTO, Ruza Sabanovic, will be the subject of another
announcement in due course, Telenor added.
Meanwhile, Jorgen C. Arentz Rostrup is appointed head of Telenor
Nordics and Petter-Borre Furberg is appointed head of Telenor
Asia.
Former Telenor Chief Financial Officer Rostrup has worked for
the company in Asia over the last three years but will now return
to the Nordics to drive the transformation needed to reach targets
on profitable growth and pan-Nordic synergies, it said.
Furberg has previously served as chief executive of Telenor
Norway and headed Telenor Nordics and has also spent 15 years in
various roles in Asia, it added.
Rostrup and Furberg will assume their positions on Oct. 1.
