Leighton Wins A$800 Million Contract At Chevron Australia's Gorgon Project

Leighton Holdings Ltd. (LEI.AU) said Thursday that it will carry
out civil engineering and underground work at Chevron Australia's
Gorgon natural gas project, in a contract valued at more than A$800
million.
Leighton subsidiary Leighton Contractors said the work on
Gorgon, Australia's largest single resources development project,
would start immediately with 1,500 people employed at the peak, and
be completed by 2013.
The work will include earthworks, concrete work, drainage,
piping, and cabling at the LNG plant site on Barrow Island off the
northwest coast of Australia.
Gorgon is operated by Chevron Australia, a subsidiary of Chevron
Corp. (CVX), and jointly owned by Chevron, Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM)
and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA), alongside small stakes held by
Osaka Gas Co. Ltd. (9532.TO), Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd. (9531.TO) and
Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc. (9502.TO).
